Policy framework for Heliport Certification and Safety Management Systems
Overview
The CAA is making proposals relating to heliport certification and safety management systems. This aligns with other work to be consulted on in 2026 with further guidance for heliports, including helicopters, powered lift and some UAS operations.
This proposal introduces a new form of heliport oversight and regulation with a risk based approach to allow for the wide array of heliport activities across the United Kingdom.
What happens next
We will review all comments, and publish a CRD (comment reply document) prior to informing the Department for Transport of our proposal. We will publish a further technical consultation with proposed drafting of regulation and guidance products.
The two appendix proposals will be actioned throughout 2026.
